16 Sep Trading Tunes with Tiaryn
Earlier this month alt-pop singer Tiaryn caught our attention with her bouncy, infectious and carefully constructed single ‘Cement Love‘, which is matched with a video clip set in Melbourne’s northern suburbs in environments common to sharehouse livers. While Tiaryn naturally and glamorously dances within thee spaces, it reminds me of that famous photo of Beyoncé stylishly standing in front of a dilapidated Brunswick house.
‘Cement Love’ with its meticulously detailed arrangement combines confidence with modesty. The track has multiple hooks that don’t easily wear thin, and this is where Tiaryn rides that fine line that can be so hard to achieve… But she makes it sound so much easier in the end.
Before her single launch show tonight at The Toff In Town in Melbourne, Tiaryn has kindly sent us five of her current favourite tracks.
Fortunes – ‘Energy’
Tiaryn: I love this tune so much. There’s as much bounce in Conor’s voice as there is in the drums. SO GOOD!
Anderson Paak – ‘Come Down’
Tiaryn: I can’t wait to get better at drums so I can attempt this tune.
Remi ft. Jordan Rakei – ‘Lose Sleep’
Tiaryn: Bouncy ballin’ and really important content, lyrically.
Rihanna – ‘Consideration’
Tiaryn: What a way to start an album. This beat is the fattest.
Huntly – ‘Sunday Sheets’
Tiaryn: These guys are going places. So bold & raw.
