Good Manners and Niche Productions are collaborating on a minty new club night, starting Friday at The Night Cat.

They’ve put together a fantastic line-up for night number one, featuring Clark, Oscar Key Sung, Planète, CORIN and Jennifer Loveless.

On Saturday DJ Stingray 313 is playing an open air party in Brunswick, with support from Cale Sexton, Chiara Kickdrum, Mosam Howieson and Ricci.

At the time of writing there are only a handful of online tickets left, but there will be a few available on the door if you head down early.

NGV Summer: Camp Cope

They’ll be playing a live set on the night as well as a DJ set from OKS and support from CORIN and Noah Slee.

I’m Listening Presents: Ossicles

Also on Friday night there’s a party upstairs at The Gasometer Hotel, hosted by I’m Listening, a group of music-sharing pals.

Playing tunes on the night are Miranda Warning, Blue Matriel, Stalks, and Olly & Toadfish (Jeep Sessions), all for $5 before midnight or $10 thereafter.

The pals at Good Manners are teaming up with Wondercore Island to put on the inaugural Good Island festival across four stages at The Curtin and Bella Union on Saturday.

Head down from 6.30pm to see Kirin J Callinan, Sui Zhen, Waangenga Blanco, Dom Alessio and more judging doggos and puppers in categories ranging from waggiest tail to best fancy dress.

Later on Friday night you can catch long-time partners in crime UV Boi and Young Franco at 170 Russell for the Melbourne leg of their Australian tour.

Young Franco is celebrating the release of his latest single, ‘Miss You’, and with recently announced supports Oscar Key Sung and Deer you’d be crazy not to head down from 8pm when doors open.

Chelsea Bleach EP Launch

Chelsea Bleach are launching their new EP Decent Connections on Friday night as well, with help from Palm Springs, kandere (a new project from Lakyn Tarai, Wahe Kavara) and Cable Ties.

They’re playing at The Tote from 8pm, and be sure to stick around afterwards for Hannah Donnelly (from the fantastic blog Sovereign Trax) playing tunes into the night.

Justice for Ms Dhu Fundraiser

On Sunday afternoon head down to the Grace Darling for a fundraiser for the #JusticeForMsDhu campaign, which is seeking justice for the death of Ms Dhu, a Yamaji woman who died in custody in 2014 after being detained for unpaid fines.

Aside from being a downright good cause, the line-up is incredible, featuring music from Saatsuma, Bahdoesa, kandere and more, as well as words from Roj Amedi, Bobuq Sayed and Meriki Onus. The event starts with a Welcome to Country performed by Uncle Vincent Peters at 3pm.

Piknic Electronik is back for the third year in Melbourne, and this weekend features possibly their best line-up of the year so far at the beautiful Sidney Myer Music Bowl.

Section 8 are hosting the 7th Remedy party on Sunday, this time to get funds to people in Haiti after the devastating effects of Hurricane Matthew in early October.

Tram Cops, Tuc, Hemm, Will Povey, Kodachrone & Back Burners are getting together to play fantastic tunes for an even better cause on Sunday at The Gaso.

All proceeds from ticket sales go towards Berry Street, who have been helping disadvantaged children, young people and families for over 100 years. If you can’t make it you can head here to donate and help the legends at Berry Street provide safe homes, education and trauma support for the most vulnerable members of our community.
